JT finally meet "Baby Sister"

This is my absolute favorite picture of Brad, JT and Shayla together. JT was so excited to meet her for the first time. When I was still pregnant you would ask him where his baby sister was and he would lift his shirt and point to his belly "she's in here". He is constantly asking me if she can get on the floor and play with him, he is so willing to share his toys with her right now. I hope that lasts when she is stealing them out of his hands later.

Long awaited update.

It has been way too long since I have updated our family blog. Since the last update our family has grown. June 3, 2009, we welcomed Shayla Marie Spiker to our family. She weighed in at 8lbs 14oz.
Wow talk about a whole new set of emotions, but hey I definitely survived the 13 hours of induced labor, and the hour and a half of pushing. I was a bit bummed that Brad wasn't able to cut the cord due to it being wrapped loosely around her neck, but she otherwise was strong and healthy right from the start.

New Pictures

Well the time has come for new family pictures, it has been almost 2 years since our last ones.
On Saturday morning JT woke up with the lovely scratch on is forehead, the only thing I can figure is that he caught himself with his fingernail in the middle of the night. Oh well boys will be boys right?Things are going well in the Spiker household, I finally kicked the flu I have had for over 2 weeks, poor Brad still has the last end of it. Luckily we didn't pass it to JT, although he does have a case of the snivels. JT has been growing up too fast, he is now talking in full sentences. We picked him up from his mom last Thursday and he tells us.. "I want to go see Grandpa Curt and ride on the bus." About 2 months ago he was able to ride on a school bus with my dad and talks about it every time he sees a bus. Another one of his favorite things to do is watch the "big trucks" on youtube every time I sit down to the computer. I guess I am the one to blame for that one though. He is also incredibly resourceful and can remove lids off pill bottles. On Saturday he got down a bottle of benedryl and was in the process of putting a big bite of them in his mouth when I walked around the corner to see what he was up to. Luckily he didn't like the flavor and spit them right out. We are going to have to move the meds, his arms are just to long with a step stool.

Introductions

I started this blog with encouragement from co-workers and old time friends. Let me introduce myself and my family. The Spiker family consists of Brad, Brittany, JT and a welcome addition of a baby girl in June. Brad works as a desiel mechanic for a large local busines. I work as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at a local skilled nursing facility. JT is now 2 1/2 years old and spends his time here at home playing with his "McQueen, King and Mack Truck". (He is obsessed with the Disney Cars movie.) He is our little ham and brings even more personality into our family, and he couldn't be more excited to have a little sister soon.
